Summary

On May 13, 2021, the Government of Ontario announced that it would be extending the current province wide stay-at-home order until at least June 2, 2021. The news comes in response to the reported increased strain on the province’s intensive care units and hospital capacity.

Stay-At-Home / Work from Home

The current province wide stay-at-home order has been in place since April 8, 2021. During the course of the stay-at-home order individuals are required to remain at home with limited exceptions such as going to the grocery store or pharmacy, accessing healthcare services, exercise, or attending work where the work cannot be done remotely.

All businesses must ensure that any employee who can work from home does work from home unless the nature of their work requires them to be present at the workplace. We recommend that employers carefully review the nature of their employees’ work and require individuals to work from home wherever possible.
